Hey folks, a few things!
-Our next fundraiser is April 19th, an anonymous donator will match whatever we make on this party! Thus, it's called : A Match Made in Heaven. Underground late night speak easy style in effect.
Deets: www.opulenttemple.org/archive...0112.php
-We've posted an update and break down of how we're doing with our debt and how we got there in the first place. Check it! www.opulenttemple.org/archive...0113.php
-AND, we've had lots of questions about our efforts to get more support from Burning Man, we posted how that went (not that well....)
Check it and tell us what you think: www.opulenttemple.org/archive...0114.php
Hope to see you April 19th!

Re: OT Debt update, and other tidbits
Fri, March 28, 2008 - 3:57 PMI wrote burning man today after reading through your site some more. Here is a copy off what I wrote. If you rather I not share this, or just not here... dont hesitate to toss it.
"To whom this concerns,
I believe Burning man is one of the most amazing events to exist. But in the true spirit of what Burning man represents to many of us, I think not allowing grants for sound theme camps is a poor decision on your behalf. I've read and understand to the best of my ability your logical thinking behind not supporting Opulent Temple and other theme camps.
Though this is what I have to say. As a person with vision seeing whats out on the playa is amazing... but what truly binds all of us burners together is what we say and here... building relationships through speech... one could even say that sound/speech is more important than vision in regards to humanity... Helping one another and putting in a shared effort at burning man is the core, a building block, a fundamental to its existence... So as important as art/vision is it is just as important to have music/sound.
If I were a blind person and, ah... if i weren't at such a point in my life, I would of loved to have said I was...in hopes to get the point across... But lets just say I was, then the visuals would be much less important then the audio portion of the event... So why are we rewarding one aspect of burning mans community but not the other? when both are of equal importance...
What im getting at is the theme camps are just as much a part of Burning man as any other project and it is unfair, unjust and against the burning man nature to treat them as the red headed beaten step child of the Burning man event... Is this getting to ya, do ya feel me? Share the love, the help, the respect :)
P.S.
I've never been to Opulent Temple or have any affiliations with them, i'm just a loving burner!
Pura Vida,
Jeff"
Hope it helps, its how i feel... either way I hope to see you guys at BM 08, so stoked to be a part, volunteer and feel the good vibes! -
